Security checks in Metro lines implemented in preparation for Universiade games
Passengers of Metro line 1 will have their baggage checked by police starting today. Passengers and their baggage are required to pass through scanners, and police will start similar checks in the other lines in the next couple of months.
Shenzhen police say that the security checks were necessary to ensure the safety of the commuters traveling, especially in August when the Universiade games starts. Last year a trial was initiated to check passengers and the bags at bust metro stations in Hua Qiang Bei, Fu Min and Shuang Long stations. During those check police were able to confiscate around 10,000 illegal items that include knives, paints, alcohol and lighters.
Passengers that are taking the Line 1 Dong (airport East) Station will undergo security checks. Since the opening of the line 1 extension from Shenzhen University to Shenzhen Airport travel time was shorten to 68 minutes, which is why it was necessary to do the security checks in Line 1. The line 1 will connect the air, rail and bus terminals and will cover the four districts.
The Metro line will operate from 6:30 am until 11 pm, passengers can also transfer to different stations in Da Ju Yuan and Shi Jie Zhi Chuang Stations. From Lao Jie and Gou Wu Gong Yuan Stations. Passengers can also use the Lines that run to Hui Zhan Zhong Xin and Qian Hai Wan Station.
It will operate between 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and passengers can change to Line 2 at Da Ju Yuan (Grand Theater) and Shi Jie Zhi Chuang (Window of the World) stations and Line 3 at Lao Jie and Gou Wu Gong Yuan (Coco Park) stations.
