Passengers Can Now Pay Metro Fares Using Wearable Straps
In July, passengers using the Metro will be able to start paying using a Shenzhen Tong Card Chip that is embedded in a watchstrap. The wristwatch strap and other similar straps will be sold at China Postal service centers.
City committee member Wang Hai, wore the watch strap along with 300 other committee members who took the first trip using Lines 2, 4 and 5 going to Shenzhen North Railway Station. The trip started at Shi Min Zhong Xin Station in Line 2 where the group transferred to Line 5 at Huang Bei Station. Next, they took Line 4 going back to Shi Min Zhong Xin Station after they finished visiting the North railway Station.
The party found that taking the new lines was easier to use since residents didn’t have to worry about getting caught in traffic. Phase two of all the new extensions will be open soon and passengers are now able to take Line 4 to Shao Nian Gong Station going to Qing Hu Station. Line 4 is also now connected directly to Hong Kong’s East Rail Line, making it easier to transfer to the Northern Territories.
Line 5 in Qian Hai Wan Station will bring passengers to Huang Bei Station. And passengers in Line 2 coming from Shi Jie Zhi Chuang Station can go to Xin Xiu Station.
