Shenzhen bio-tech companies leads in the Bio Industry Convention
Beijing Ge-nomics Institute a Shenzhen based company participated in the convention by displaying two transgenic pigs. The mini pigs only weigh a third of the weight of a normal pig. Using a restraining growth gene using artificial intervention developed the pigs. Company staff said they are still in the process of creating a much smaller pig. The company is also using gene technology to shorten the growth cycle of tree in South America that is used for soundproofing and it’s cheaper to use.
293 companies set up booths in the convention area, 23 of the companies are coming from the local bio industry. Shenzhen Graduate School of Qinghua University showed their technological skills by producing bio diesel fuel using swill oil. By using this type of technology it will greatly improve the bio diesel industry.
Shenzhen have reported a 50 billion yuan in sales during last year’s biotech convention marking a 30 percent increase every year. Shenzhen have also become the leading and most influential medical instrument industrial base contributing at least 13 percent to the industry.
Shenzhen also plans to seek closer cooperation with companies and research institutes to further accelerate the industrialization of the biotech industry.
