Thermal technology used for cooling system
The use of ice thermal storage technology in central air conditioning systems was suggested to make efficient use of energy. The cooling systems can be turn on at night and at off peak hours to store electricity that will be used later during the daytime.
Shenzhen Federation of Energy Experts said that the system can store the electricity then release it when electricity consumption increases. Most of electricity consumed in Shenzhen comes from air conditioners hat are running during the summer accounting for a third of the power consumption of the city.
Experts say that investment for this kind of technology is high, but operation costs will be reduced in the long run. According to the SFESE the city power grid have a maximum power generation capacity of 11.51 million kilowatts. A pilot company was given the opportunity to try the technology and help them save 100,000 yuan in their electricity bill every year.
