Blood collection vehicle towed for the second time

Blood collection vehicle towed for the second timeA promotional vehicle for the city blood bank that has parked for so many years in Huaqiangbei was towed by the city urban management again after it was removed last March. The vehicle is considered as one of the oldest in the country.

Four days ago the vehicle was allowed to stay in Huaqiangbei to help promote the Universiade games. But recently it was towed away again because it was blocking the street. The city blood bank is now trying to find a solution and hopes to find a spot for the vehicle by the end of the week.

A community official of Huaqiangbei said since it was only a promotional vehicle it was not allowed to park in such a busy street, but if the vehicle was actually used to collect blood donations then it would be allowed to stay were it is. However the blood bank argued that it can’t afford a new vehicle as of now and buying a new vehicle means waiting for a long time for the government to approve a new one.

Staff  at the Xiandai blood bank outlet said the vehicle help promote blood donations in their area, since it was towed away only a few people were coming in to donate blood. The promotional vehicle was a big help says one staff, without it they are afraid that the city will run out of supply.

Residents also agreed that the vehicle must remain parked in Huaqiangbei, its a special vehicle doing a good purpose. Residents didn’t feel it was causing any convenience to anyone.
