Residents Benefits from Shenzhen Metro Line 5 Opening
Shenzhen Metro line 5 opened yesterday and is expected to benefit millions of residents living in the Longgang and Bao’an areas. The line runs through the Northern part of Shenzhen and takes only 6 minutes to travel from one end of the 40 km line to the other, starting at Qianhaiwan and stopping at Huangbeiling.
The East-West route of the Metro has 27 stations and operates form 6:30 am until 11 pm, with the trains passing at 13 minutes intervals. Train arrival intervals will be shortened to ten minutes from the start of the Universiade games in August. Passengers can then change lines at the Bao’an Central Station and Qianhaiwan Station for line 1, Huangbeiling Station for line 2, and Buji Station for line 3.
The Metro Line 5 project also include the 3.4 km raised section of Xili Township and car parks at the Tanglang and Shangshujing stations. Line 5 will help the city’s northern expansion and should relieve traffic congestion at the Meilin and Buji Checkpoints.
