Floating Villa Owner Demands Proper Compensation
After a hearing last Friday, the owner of the Sea Palace, a floating villa located at Dapeng Bay is asking for 30 million yuan in compensation from a local government after the cancellation of their licenses and the demolition of the villa.
Manager and owner of the Shenzhen Elite Offshore Entertainment Co., Guo Kuizhang said the the Longgang Economic Promotion Bureau was unfair since there were a lot of aquatic farms and leisure fishing areas allowed to operate and do business while their permits were cancelled.
The bureau argued that the villa was different from the others since it was a defined as a club for private gatherings and it was an illegal building structure located in a public area. The villa was then scrutinized after media reports showed that the floating villa never acquired any permits to occupy an area at Dapeng Bay.
The floating villa was demolished last April after decisions were made by the Guangdong provincial and Longgang marine supervision authorities determined that the place was indeed illegal.
