Milano Italian Restaurant in Shenzhen – Restaurant Review
In my search to find Shenzhen’s best restaurant I visited Milano on Sunday lunch time next to the Marriott Hotel in Futian. I took the metro to Che Go Miao and walked out of exit D1 straight to the restaurant.
The restaurant is of contemporary Italian Style and seats around 80 people. You can watch the chef’s at work through the large looking hole in the wall to the open kitchen.
The menu looked great with the usual Italian starters including Colds cuts of meat and cheese, grilled vegetables and seafood salad, Parma ham and gorgonzola, Salmon carpaccio and my favorite the Brochetta. Starters start from 48rmb.
It was an easy choice for me to start with a Brochetta, choosing a main was much harder with some amazing dishes and a great choice to choose from. Should I try a pasta or spaghetti, if you are watching the pennies there are some great priced pastas starting from 68rmb or should I go for a tagliatelle or ravioli dish priced from 98rmb-118rmb.
Looking further down the menu there is a great selection of seafood including a mixed seafood grill which boasts jumbo squid, king prawns, salmon and mussels to name a few things in the dish, or you could try the New Zealand Sole, salmon steak or turbot. Seafood dishes start at 118rmb.
Further along the menu comes the pizzas, too many to name them all but the usual suspects stick out, margherita, Quattro stagioni(cheese, tomato, mushrooms, olives), napoletana(cheese, tomato, cappers, anchovies), diavola(spicy) and frutti de mare(seafood). Pizzas start at a very reasonable 75rmb.
For me it had to be a meat dish for my main and I could choose between Veal, New Zealand tenderloin steak, mixed grill, and chicken with mozzarella and parmesan to name a few. I chose the chicken and I was not to be disappointed. I was served two large chicken breasts smothered in mozzarella and parmesan accompanied by a side of spinach. It was delicious and certainly filling. Meat dishes start from 88rmb.
A food review would be no good without trying a dessert and I chose the semifreddo della casa which was a wonderful mix of tastes as it contained ricotta cheese, coconut, ice cream and chocolate sauce. You can alos choose from tiramisu, crepes and ice cream and an assortment of cheese. Desserts are priced from 38rmb.
Finally staff were attentive without intruding and made me feel really welcome. Well done Milano, definitely an early front runner for restaurant of the month(June/July combined)
