Metro to Add More Trains to Increase Travel Efficiency
Shenzhen will be ordering additional Metro trains to help shorten train intervals and passenger congestion in Metro Stations. Since the opening of the new line extensions, commuters using the Metro have reached 1 million a day.
Since more Metro Lines were opened in the Shekou and Longgang lines, more and more commuters have chosen to take the metro, Metro officials estimated that by the end of the year the Metro will be receiving around 2 million passengers a day. And when the remaining lines will be functional these will definitely change the commuting habits of the city’s residents.
The only thing that is holding back the Metro stations is the lack of trains, as with the current number of trains, passengers are crowding the stations while waiting for the next train, therefore stalling efficiency. Increasing the number of trains will shorten the train intervals in each station, thus transporting passengers faster. The Metro expects the new trains to arrive by and be operational by next year.
