Restaurant Review – Little India

Restaurant Review – Little IndiaIn my search to find Shenzhen’s best restaurant, I visited little India at coco park this week. Little India is located underneath McCawley’s and is run by the same people who ran the Nepalese restaurant which used to be upstairs next to McCawley’s.

The restaurant is quaint and has traditional Indian décor. The waitresses are friendly and smiley and the menu is extensive. We started off with pints of ice cold Tiger beer served in a frozen glass, perfect to cool you down in Shenzhen’s long summer.

For starters we tried onion bajis, Nepal Chat, prawn bhutuwa (prawns in garlic) and masala papadam. The prawn dish was truly delicious and went down a treat with the whole group and you can’t go wrong with onion bajis and yoghurt sauce. Your choice of starters also includes vegetable pakora, aloo chop, lamb samosas and momocha (dumplings) to name a few. Starters start from 15rmb.

For our main course we chose a selection of curries including a chicken Tikka masala a favorite back home in England and it held it’s own with the best masala’s I have tasted. We also tried the chicken pasanda, a creamy and fruity dish for people who like a mild curry, a lamb vindaloo which was delicious with tender lamb mixed with spices, it was a little too mild as I expect a vindaloo to blow my head off with heat so next time I will ask for more spice and we tried the butter chicken, another mild creamy dish. All the mains were delicious and full of flavour and the portions certainly filling. There are many more mains to choose from and prices start from 55rmb.

To accompany our mains we had a selection of naans including garlic naan, cheese naan and aloo paratha (stuffed naan) and two pullao rice dishes. Sides started from 12rmb.

You can also try a range of traditional Indian desserts including cheese, milk, fruit, ice cream and rice dishes. Desserts are priced from 25rmb.

After your meal why not relax with a hookah pipe and flavored tobacco.

Little India also provide a catering service for parties etc.
