High Speed trains to shorten travel timeShenzhen’s North Railway Station is scheduled to open this August allowing passengers to take high speed trains that will bring them all the way to Wuhan in Hubei Province. A trip will take 25 minutes from Shenzhen to Guangzhou line and less than five hours from Guangzhou to Wuhan section.

When the high speed line from Beijing to Wuhan is finished construction this year, traveling from Shenzhen to Beijing will only take eight hours. Trial runs were done from Guangzhou and Shenzhen with the trains running at 380 kilometers an hour. When the trains are fully operational they will be running at a more modest, controlled speed of 300 kilometers an hour.

A section for the high speed rail is also under construction that will link Shenzhen with Hong Kong due to be completed in 2014. Travel time from Shenzhen to Hong Kong will take only 16 minutes.
