Police to do Test Run on Traffic Restrictions for Universiade
Traffic police will be doing a test run on the traffic controls that will be implemented during the Universiade games on Saturday. Controls imposed will include banning of restricted vehicles in entering some roads.
The test run will last for 90 minutes and will transport 13,000 people in 224 buses from the Athletes Village in Longgang going to Shenzhen Bay Sports Center in Nanshan. Travel time will last about 45 minutes and traffic police plan to shorten the time by taking two routes during the trial.
A section of Longxiang Road and Huangge Road including the entrance to Shuiguan expressway will be off limits from 4:45 pm to 5:25pm. While the Shuiguan Expressway will be closed from 4:50 pm to 5:45 pm. Bus routes will be controlled by letting them pass through Qingping Expressway, Nigang Road, Beihuan Road, Shahe Road West Keyuan Road and Dongbin Road. These sections will be closed down from 5:00 pm until 6:10 pm.
Other buses will need to take the Nanping Expressway, Xiangmihu Road, Fulong Road, Binhai Boulevard and Shahe Road West all the way to the sports center. To help control resident traffic, police will be deploying 1,700 officers that will help in directing traffic and diverting cars to different intersections.
Police are advising drivers using Longxiang Road and Shuiguan Expressway to use the Huangge Road, Jihe Expressway, Meiguan Expressway going to downtown Shenzhen from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm to avoid the inconvenience of bad traffic.
