Water Facilities to be Constructed to Fight Floods and Droughts
China has pledged to help intensify the construction of water facilities in an effort to fight drought and protect planted grains from floods. The Chinese government will be prioritizing water projects related to infrastructure construction.
They will also consider irrigation and water conservancy as the major point in rural infrastructure improvement. Water strains have had a major impact on economic and social development in China. Rain triggered floods have nearly destroyed the central and southern regions of the mainland, with floods taking lives, destroying crops and homes and rendering farmland useless. These incidents have come right after severe drought and cause problems in the drinking water.
President Hu Jintao said the he will see to it the need to accelerate development facilities will be done to guarantee the safety of planted grains, to restructure the economy, and build an energy saving facility to combat natural disasters.
Rain-triggered floods have battered the Central and Southern regions of China, killing people, destroying homes and inundating farmland since June, right after some areas were hit by severe drought for months which caused drinking water problems and damage to crops.
China will establish a water system that will help shield the country from floods and drought by utilizing water efficiently and conserving water sources.
