Shenzhen Among the World’s Most Expensive Cities to Live
While being one of the World’s most livable cities has its perks, the title apparently comes with a hefty price tag. Shenzhen was ranked 43rd of 150 cities in the list and fourth of the eleven Chinese cities listed among the world’s most expensive places to live in terms of cost of living. The list covered 24 countries in five continents and was based on the comparative cost of 200 items found in each city.
Included in the survey are the costs of housing, transportation, food, clothing, household items and entertainment. All of the cities were compared to New York, which was the base city, and currency movements were also measured against the US dollar.
Luanda, Angola’s capital retained the title as most expensive city, with Tokyo at second place. Singapore is now within the top ten most expensive cities followed by Hong Kong, Nagoya and Seoul.
Other Chinese cities namely Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin, Shenyang Chengdu and Taipei all climbed in their rankings compared to last year.
