Restaurant Review – Ahava Israeli Cuisine

Restaurant Review – Ahava Israeli CuisineIn my quest to find Shenzhen’s best restaurant the path would lead me to China’s first fully authentic Israeli restaurant. Located on the busy Gui Miao Road at the Guang Cai Xin Shi Ji building in Nanshan it is a short bus or taxi ride from Shekou or Futian.

The restaurant is big and spacious with an open kitchen to watch while bread and hummus is prepared. The kitchen is fitted with a Tabun to make the delicious bread. This is a very big oven and was custom made to authentic Israeli specification. I started with a large round piece of fresh bread from the Tabun and an assortment of dips including hummus with Tahina and various vegetable dips. Other starters include beef soup, falafel on a tahina with herbs, hummus with minced beef and garlic and chicken wings with sweet chilli sauce to name a few. Starters are priced from 28rmb.

For my main course I tried Chicken and lamb kebab skewers which were truly delicious. To accompany these I had a hummus and mushroom dish which was amazing. For your main course you can choose from different skewers including beef, chicken breast, lamb, chicken leg, and chicken heart or try a 250g beef steak or go for the lamb chops. If you like fish why not try the fried shrimp with garlic and lemon or grilled red fish. There are also many more mains to choose from and prices for main courses start from 90rmb.

For my dessert I tried the Israeli black coffee which was delicious and gave me the kick I needed to head back to work for the afternoon. You could also try the Israel sweet dessert.

Ahava caters for groups, couples, business meetings (check out the private area) and families. Ahava has a great kids menu including hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken dishes for 65rmb which includes fries and a soft drink as well.

Ahava also have a party menu so bring your friends and sit back and relax as the Ahava team look after your every need. The party menu is based on a minimum of 10 people and includes hummus, chips, a Jerusalem mix, lamb and assorted chicken skewers and drinks all for 140rmb per person.
