Self-service Terminals Installed at Checkpoints
A self-service terminal will be installed at the Luohu Checkpoint by the Shenzhen General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection that will help collect all personal information of e-channel users. Residents that are issued with a Hong Kong travel permit can now submit their information plus their fingerprints and picture using the terminal.
The self-service terminal can cut down on the time consuming manual collection of information that is usually done during working hours. The terminal may also relieve the pressure on checkpoints during the upcoming Universiade games after other self-service terminals are installed at other checkpoints.
The installation of these terminals is one of the measures done by the station to provide better service during the games. There are already eight special inspection channels placed in service for the athletes attending the games, plus two more checkpoints that have been opened at the city airport.
Each participant will only take twenty minutes to fully complete the inspection procedure. Ordinary citizens can also use these special channels as long as there are no athletes waiting in line or using the terminal.
The station also has a multilingual team speaking at least 20 languages at the checkpoints that will assist any athletes that might need help in passing through the checkpoints.
