Binhai Hospital to Open Before the Year Ends
Binhai Hospital or University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital will have 2,000 beds available for use of which 60 percent will be set aside for the public while the remainder will be reserved for private patients. The hospital will concentrate on specialized services before other services will be introduced.
The hospital will be charging patients at a fixed rate of 500 yuan per day for patients covered by the public health care system. The coverage includes cost of bed, medicine, operations and doctors’ fee.
Doctors working for the hospital will be offered high salaries to discourage them from corruption. Managed by HKU the University will appoint the head of the hospital, provide support for medical care, research and development as well education.
