Chelsea Outclass Hong Kong champions Kitchee 4 – 0
Chelsea were in Hong Kong last night to take on local champions Kitchee in the Barclays Asia trophy. Chelsea lined up with a strong team including England regulars Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole, flying Frenchman Malouda and star striker Drogba. 50 million pounds man Torres was left on the bench after his poor form last season and it was the local side who started the brightest causing Chelsea debut-ant Rajkovic all sorts of problems at the back. The big center half looked clumsy as he sliced clearances all over the park and even had his own goal keeper sprawling to stop a corner.
Kitchee looked lively and it took some excellent defending from John Terry to stop them taking a deserved lead into half time, then cruelly it would be Chelsea who carried the advantage into half time thanks to the flying Frenchman Malouda winning a penalty and Frank Lampard converting with ease.
The goal knocked the stuffing out of Kitchee and the second half was all one way traffic as Drogba added two more and substitute Daniel Sturridge added a superb fourth. There was also time for Torres to enter the action and miss a host of guilt edged chances suggesting he would finish 2011 in the same poor form he started it.
Kitchee model their football on Barcelona and after witnessing their first half showing of slick one touch football I would say it is worth going to watch them in action next season.
After the game we went to Wanchai and shared a pint with Alan Curbishley and Dion Dublin.
