China to Send Largest Number of Delegates to the Universiade
China will be sending a delegation of 804 members that will participate in the Universiade games in Shenzhen. The delegation will include 505 athletes coming from universities and colleges in 26 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.
The athletes will be competing in 283 events in 24 categories and will be the largest delegation from all participating countries and regions. The athletes will start arriving August 5 at the Athletes Village in Longgang.
According to the deputy chief of the delegation Zhang Yanjun, who is also the deputy chairman of China University Students Federation, the Chinese delegation had already started their training from July. All of the athletes have been registered and passed all qualifications required by the FISU.
The athletes will be competing in various sports activities such as women’s soccer, volleyball, archery, table tennis, shooting, gymnastics, diving, weightlifting, Taekwondo and badminton.
