Sports Federation to Elect New Chairman
The International University Sports Federation will be electing their new head during its general assembly at the Universiade Games in Shenzhen. 500 members will attend the organization’s meeting. The organization is currently led by incumbent chairman is 87 year old American George E. Killian.
Also during the General Assembly the biennial FISU Conference will be held in the city with topics aimed at providing a professional exchange platform of experts in the fields of university sports research. From August 13 and 14 presidents from 128 universities locally and abroad confirmed their attendance and exchange views on university development.
FISU was founded in 1949 with its main responsibility of supervising the Summer and Winter Universiade and the World University Championships. The Universiade is done every two years in different cities and considered the second most important sports competition next to the Olympics.
