Huawei Steps up Hiring Foreign Appointments
Shenzhen based Huawei Technologies recently appointed the former U.K. government information official as its global security officer. The company is the second largest network equipment maker that is aiming to expand their footprint by hiring more globally.
The company’s latest hire, John Suffolk a former chief information officer with the British government will start working with Huawei in October. His task is to refine the firm’s cyber security systems. John will be based in the company’s Shenzhen headquarters and will report directly to CEO Ren Zhengfei. Currently Huawei is catching up with Ericsson who is the No 1. Telecom equipment maker by stepping up foreign appointments.
The company is aggressively entering the consumer device industry with products such as smartphones and tablet computers. The company was also hiring foreign executives such as former government officials and industry figures that were holding senior positions and in research and development. In 2009 Huawei hired Matt Bross as their chief technology officer.
