More Speed Detectors Installed on Expressways
To help in the efforts of monitoring speeding motorists, traffic police have installed speed detectors on three more expressways. A total of eleven detectors were installed on the Jihe, Meiguan and Yanpai expressways including the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway.
The installed detectors are great ways to control speeding. A detector calculates a vehicle’s speed between two designated sections of the expressways. The new equipment will be more effective in detecting the speed of the vehicles.
In the past the detector recorded the speed of the vehicle in a certain section of the expressway, and many of the speeding drivers would usually slow down as they pass the detectors so it was difficult to catch them speeding. The new detector works by monitoring speeds of a vehicle for the entire section.
The only way for a driver to avoid being fined is to drive under the allowed speeds. The detectors were first installed in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway in 2007, detectors are now also installed on Beihuan, Binhai and Binhe boulevards, and at the Nigang Road and Nanping expressways.
