Universiade Village to Open its Doors on Saturday
During a press conference, an announcement was made saying that the Universiade Village in Longgang will open this Saturday. The Village will be home to more than 10,000 athletes from around the world.
The village has six dormitory buildings that can accommodate 13,000 people. Three athletes will share each room in the dormitories. Those athletes that will be playing basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, weightlifting and judo will have a room for two.
Staff from six local hotels will be on hand to service the dormitories and the athletes will get gifts like cards placed in their rooms. A religious service center with 39 clergymen has also been placed in the village. Rooms are also available for Christians, Buddhists and Muslims.
The village was built using environmentally friendly technology and materials, and the east area of the village was installed with the largest solar water heating systems with 7,000 square meters of solar panel collectors.
