Clinic to Offer Traditional Chinese Medicine to Athletes
The Universiade Village Polyclinic is offering Traditional Chinese medicine such as acupuncture and massages to athletes that are preparing for the competition. All athlete need to do is visit the clinic by setting up an appointment since the clinic only has 14 beds and 21 practitioners on hand.
The clinic is located 300 meters away from the North gate of the Universiade village, adjacent to the International Square and Religious Service Center. The building will be used as a base for 20,000 registered personnel that are working for the Universiade. Most of the personnel are workers from the Shenzhen No. 2 Hospital.
Twelve of the personnel are practitioners of acupuncture and massage that were recommended by the hospital and backed by the other hospitals in Shenzhen as well. The medical workers are also trained in English. If any foreign language is spoken then volunteer interpreters are on hand to translate.
The clinic is the equivalent of a small hospital and has seventeen departments, first aid rooms and five ambulances that are capable of treating 600 patients in a day and treat most common diseases. When a patient needs to have surgery, he or she can be transferred to the nearest hospital in under twenty minutes.
