Metro Operating Hours to be Extended During Universiade

Metro operating hours to be extended during Universiade gamesAll five metro lines in Shenzhen will be extending their operating hours during the Universiade games. Metro trains will now run from 6:30 am until 12:30 am on the opening and closing ceremonies of the Universiade and 6:30 am to 12 am during the Games.

Trains in the Shekou and Huangzhong lines will be running in eight minute intervals in their peak hours, train intervals will be six minutes on Longhua Lines and five minutes in the Longgang line. Train operating hours can be extended further depending on event schedules.

Volunteers, game ticket holders and universiade staff can take the Metro and public buses for free. New buses will be put into use by the city when the games open this Friday. Around 3 million people are expected to watch the games and around 9 million people are estimated to take public transportation, an information guide book will be available to those using public transport.

The guide book can be obtained at any venues and U stations found throughout the city and can also be downloaded at these websites, www.sztb.gov.cn, www.szggjt.com, www.e511.com. Traffic restrictions are imposed on roads that are transporting the athletes, staff, guests and officials to the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center during Friday’s opening ceremony.

Only vehicles with passes are allowed to enter and expressways will remain closed unitl the delegations have passed.
