Retail Prices for Drugs to Fall in September
Over 400 types of drugs will be affected in the price fall in September. Prices of some retail drugs will fall 14 percent on average. This will be the second time that the National Development and Reform Commission and state reduce prices this year.
The drop in drug prices has affected some drugstores as they are under pressure to compete with hospitals. One drugstore owner said that the price fall made their store less competitive than public hospitals. Before they attracted customers because their prices were lower than in public hospitals, now there is no difference when you purchase the drugs in either place.
Drugstores are even doing promotions to keep customers coming back to their stores. Some residents are not even aware that prices have fallen. Some learned about the price fall through the Internet, but they have no idea which type of drugs will be sold cheaper.
