Further Cooperation to Benefit Two Regions
During a meeting with Taiwan’s ruling Kuomintang honorary Chairman Lien Chan, Shenzhen Party Chief Wang Rong expressed that Shenzhen and Taiwan should continue to strengthen their exchange and cooperation to further boost both regions’ economic and cultural prosperity.
Wang said by hosting the Universiade that the government greatly improved the infrastructural, environmental and social management of the city and was an assembly ground for young people in Shenzhen. The success of the games is accredited not only to the participants of the games but also the residents of Shenzhen who lent their time to make sure the games will be a success and a great way to promote the city.
Shenzhen development was also due to a large number of Taiwanese companies that established a base in Shenzhen, boosting the city’s economic development, especially from the start of the city’s reform and opening up. In past years the city had constant exchanges with Taiwan in the fields of science and technology, research and development as well as culture and sports.
Wang expressed his gratitude to Lien for his constant concern for the city’s development and his efforts in continuing to promote exchange and cooperation between the two cities that will eventually benefit both sides.
