Universiade – Pin Trading a Great Way to Make Friends
Pin trading is fast becoming one of the favorite things to do between athletes in the Universiade village. Athletes were swapping their national pins or special pins in hopes of completing a collection of Shenzhen Universiade pins.
It is becoming so popular that one of the common greetings you can hear is do you want to trade your pins? It’s common to see athletes with their national pins attached on their identification straps, and those with a large amount of pins attract the most attention. Most collectors are after national pins or those with unique designs.
Pin trading is a great way to make friends, since it serves as a reminder of the people they have met and made friends with. Souvenir stores in the village are selling pins of the 24 sports games of the Universiade, each pin costs 24 yuan and still attracts a lot of determined collectors. Athletes even buy a bunch of pins so they have something to trade with others and make friends.
The village has also attracted professional pin collectors that hang around the athlete’s village for a chance to meet them and the possibility of trading pins.
