Three Chapters Mark Universiade Closing Ceremony
The 90-minute Universiade closing ceremony was divided into three chapters that were placed in importance with the interactions between the athletes and the performers. The ceremony which started at 8 pm yesterday night and was carnival-like in its atmosphere for the young people watching.
The first chapter performance was called The Gathering and focused on Shenzhen’s relationship with the rest of the world. The performance started off with an orchestral group consisting of 152 performers wearing sports uniforms of the participating athletes from 152 countries.
The second chapter was called Pursuing the Dream with performances showing the integration of different cultures and performances from performers from different countries plus Chinese martial arts, opera and acrobatic performances.
Farewell was the appropriate title of the final chapter of the closing ceremony showing the city’s respect to the world by inviting the athletes, volunteers and its residents to come up on stage that was built on recycled materials.
