Universiade left lasting impressions to delegatesDelegates of the recently concluded Universiade games said that they would never forget their experience during their stay in the host city. From their experience in their stay at the Universiade village, the food, and most of all, the friendship they gained.

Athletes shared some of their experiences while walking in the streets of Shenzhen, they met a lot of people, ate at the open food courts and enjoyed the experience that the Chinese people showed them. One Australian athlete will never forget the friendship he had with the designated driver of their team, he said that even though they couldn’t speak each others languages, they had a great time laughing together. This only shows that the Universiade goes beyond language and sports.

Athletes also felt safe walking the streets in Shenzhen, locals usually come up to them to talk, take pictures with them and some even handed out cold drinks to help athletes keep cool in the hot weather. The delegates also said that small problems were solved quickly so they were not bothered by such difficulties.

The Brazilian delegation said that they had learned a lot from Shenzhen on how they handled such a large international sporting event, the Brazilian delegates said that they were very impressed by the facilities, services and volunteers and those small things that  made their stay unforgettable.

Brazil said that they will be following Shenzhen’s footsteps since they will be hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2014, the Olympics in 2016 and Universiade games on 2017.
