Charitable Organizations Receive Donations from Foxconn
Foxconn has donated 11.45 million yuan to several charitable organizations, including 4 million yuan to Shenzhen Red Cross Society. This is the largest amount that the Red Cross has received amidst recent scandals involving the charity.
Red Cross will be allocating part of the 4 million yuan donation to a project that aids children with thalassemia. The remaining amount will be used to develop the Smile programs for children with cleft palates. Another 4 million yuan will be divided into four other Guangdong cities Qingyuan, Foshan, Huizhou and Zhanjiang that aids children with disabilities and the elderly.
The remaining amount from the 11.45 million yuan will be used to construct schools and hospitals around the city, and sponsor a vocational education program in Shenzhen and around the country. Deputy head of the Shenzhen Red Cross Society, Zhao Lizhen said that public donations had also increased since August and records were available for viewing on its official website www.szredcross.org.cn.
