Restaurant Review – King of BBQ
King of BBQ is located off Hongli Lu near Xiang Mi Hu. If you head east on Hongli Lu from Che Gong Miao you will come to a set of traffic lights(second or third set on Hong Li Lu from Dong Hai Hua Yuen) with the old theme park and honey lake on your left, turn right at those traffic lights and you will see a whole area full of BBQ and seafood restaurants. King of BBQ is down on the left-hand side of the restaurants.
What strikes me first when I arrive at the restaurant is the music, upon entering we see a performer singing for the guests and a center piece stage.
We are shown to a table and order some bottles of beer; unfortunately they were room temperature at best so we quickly moved onto the draught pitchers which were ice cold.
Sifting through the menu, all of your BBQ favorites were there, lamb skewers, beef skewers, chicken wings and legs, sausage on a stick, mushrooms, corn dogs, egg plant etc. All at great prices from as little as 2rmb per skewer. It is the signature dishes that set King of BBQ apart from any old BBQ restaurant, rack of lamb, whole duck, Indian pancakes, fish hot pot and leg of lamb. We ordered some of everything and found it all to our liking and the price, 250rmb between four of us including several jugs of beer was more than reasonable.
The rack of lamb was definitely our favorite and I loved that they give you plastic gloves so you can rip it apart caveman style. While we were eating, a clown came out to perform, which was great for families with kids as it interacted amongst the tables closest to the stage. If you are looking for a change from the western restaurants and BBQ is to your liking, then check it out, it is certainly a place suitable to take your kids.
