More Schools to Open Before the School Year Begins
Starting today 13,000 places for the incoming semester will be ready in nine new public schools. The nine schools include primary schools, junior and senior high schools. The new places will help alleviate an increase in the number of student.
Two of the new senior high schools have been placed in Bao’an and Longgang districts which have the largest student populations in the city. Both of the high schools are affiliated with Xin’an Middle School in Bao’an and will have 2,400 places in 48 classes. The primary and junior high schools have 10,000 places scattered among their classes.
The first government funded international school is also among the new schools that is targeted to the children of local expats, as well as the children of residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents that are living in Shenzhen. the school is affiliated with Shenzhen Foreign Languages School and will be providing primary, junior and senior high school educations that will prepare the students for studies abroad. The school will also be teaching Chinese language to the foreign students.
The number of kindergartens have also increased, so far there are 1,088 kindergartens in Shenzhen with 19 new kindergartens opened in the past two months.
