Shenzhen Ranks Third in Financial Center Index Report
In a China Financial center Index report compiled and published by the China Development Institute, Shenzhen is the third largest financial center in China among 29 mainland, cities just behind Shanghai and Beijing.
The China Development Institute has been compiling the index report since 2009 and updates it every year. Over the years, Shenzhen has consistently ranked third based on various aspects in the financial sector, industry performance and market size. In this year’s report, financial centers in Shenzhen have made good progress even with today’s ongoing financial instability.
From 2007 to 2009 the total added value of the financial centers in the 29 cities increased by 21 percent annually. Shenzhen achieved an increase of 28 percent annually in its financial sector alone. The city of London also released their financial center list last March that covered 75 cities around the world, where Shenzhen was ranked 15th among international financial centers.
