Da Mei Sha to Limit the Number of Visitors During the Mid Autumn Festival
During the holiday, the beach will be open from 6 am until 1 am, but will limit the visitors to 40,000 a day. Residents and visitors are advised not to visit the beach during peak times to avoid overcrowding. Beach information will be shown on LED screens on expressways, in text messages, radio and television. The beach will be closed to the public during bad weather.
Dameisha is free to the public, but overcrowding during holidays prompted the district to impose traffic restrictions for the sixth time to help alleviate security, environmental and traffic congestion problems. With the opening of the Yanba Expressway, more traffic routes to the beach have allowed an increased number of people access to the area, resulting in the facilities, that usually accommodate 30,000 people, to be overrun.
In last year’s Mid Autumn festival the district limited the number of visitors to the beach to 50,000.
