Educational Program for Migrant Workers

Educational program for migrant workersUnder a subsidy program of the Shenzhen federation of Workers Union, 312 migrant workers were able to enroll themselves in four universities. The qualified workers were selected through entrance examinations and recommendation from the union.

In the past four years nearly a thousand migrant workers were able to benefit from the educational program with a hundred of them finishing their college education. The education program also provides free training to more than 3,000 workers.

Many migrant workers are happy with the program being offered since they get to realize their dreams of going to a university an opportunity often out of reach for many. The subsidy program gives them a chance to study in the university of their choice. A florist in Nanshan district was able to finish a four year course online that was offered by Sichuan University and paid for by the district trade union.
