Shenzhen to Set Up Bike Rental Stations in Two More Districts

Shenzhen to set up bike rental stations in two more districtsThe city will be allotting 4,000 bicycles in 200 rental stations in Longgang and Yantian districts that will be available to rent by the end of the year. The Shenzhen Eastern and Shenzhen Bus Group are responsible for promoting and encouraging the use of the bikes.

The Longgang urban administration said that they will set up 55 bike rental service stations around Longgang CBD, Longgang Boulevard and Baolong Road. The district will also  set aside 1,000 bicycles to service Longcheng, Pingdi and Longgang subdistricts. Shenzhen Eastern Bus Group has set up nine bikes rental stations during the Universiade that serviced the Universiade subway station, Longcheng Square, Universiade park, Universiade center and the Athletes Village. During this period the bike stations were renting out 400 bicycles at 30 yuan a day with a 500 yuan bike deposit.

Yantian district will be stteing up 60 rental stations in the Haishan and Shatoujiao subdistrict that will have 3,000 bicycles available. Also, by June of next year an additional 2,500 bicycles will be added for use in the Yantian district. Residents living in Yantian need to apply for a bicycle card, once they have the card they can use the bicycles for one hour free of charge, then they will be charged two yuan for every hour after that.

The Shenzhen TransCard can be used in all of the bike rental services and stations and will benefit residents citywide.
