China Men’s Basketball Team to Play in London Olympics Next Year
China’s mens basketball team will be heading to its third straight Olympic games in London after winning the 15th FIBA Asia Championship. China played a great game against Jordan by scoring the winning free throw in the last quarter of the game.
Yi Li of Shenzhen claimed the tournament MVP spot by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks, followed by his fellow teammates Liu Wei scoring 13 points and Wang Zhizhi getting 10 points. Players for the Jordan team also did well with their top player Rasheim Wright scoring 26 points, Abbas with 13 points and Daghles with ten points. The game was compared to a chess match wherein Jordan changed defensive plays frequently and China carefully selected players that were left open.
The Chinese basketball team celebrated their win amid the numerous fans watching the games, and after a few days rest the team will be starting their preparations for the London Olympic Games.
