Fresh Produce Vans to be Placed in Residential Areas in the City
Around three hundred vans will be going around 900 residential communities in the city and will be selling cheap vegetables and other farm produce. This effort is being done by the city to offset food price hikes in the city.
The vegetables and other farm produce will come from Pinghu Haijixing International Agricultural Produce Logistics Park that opened recently and is selling produce at 20 to 30 percent lower than those found on supermarkets shelves and community stores. The service is intended to help residents deal with the price increase of food. The operators of the van service will be subsidized by the city government.
Each van can hold up to a ton of fresh produce, meat, eggs, fruit and vegetables. The vans will be stationed in a fixed selling spot during the hours of 10 am to 7 pm. this allows residents to purchase their fresh produce from the vans without the need to travel further from their places of residence.
300 vans will be initially sent out to various selling spots by October 31, while other appropriate spots for the remaining vans are being scouted. LED displays will advertise the produce prices in each van and cannot be changed.
