City to Expect Rain Showers Tonight
Residents of Shenzhen can expect rain showers Thursday night or Friday morning as a result of tropical storm Nesat. This will be the 18th tropical storm that the city will have experienced this year. Nesat has already left the Philippine shores.
Nesat was the direct result of the tropical storm Haitang which has already been moving West and was expected to make landfall in Vietnam. With the effect of Haitang and the northeast monsoon, Nesat was pushed into the South China Sea and will make landfall along the coast of western Guangdong and Hainan on Thursday night. Hot weather is expected to be accompanied by strong cold winds from the North causing rainfall.
Once in the South China Sea, Nesat will increase in intensity and will be sweeping most of the northern part of the sea. The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory advised ships and other vessels to prepare. Nesat is a Cambodian word for fishing and is the 127th name in the tropical cyclone list.
