Culture Festival Starts Today at Shenzhen City Parks
Starting today, the sixth Park Culture Festival will open its doors to the public. The festival will last 15 days covering 21 parks at the Xin’an Park in Bao’an district. The festival will feature folk cultural activities and each of the 21 parks will have its own theme.
The opening ceremonies will showcase Chinese acrobatics, dance, Chinese martial arts and ballet. Dashahe park will be hosting sport activities such as tennis, basketball, badminton and a tug of war. The park use to be a landfill site which now boasts environmentally friendly features such as a water recycling system and solar streetlamps.
Meilin Park will show various films in their open air area during the festival. visitors can also view film exhibitions as well. Traditional Chinese opera performances at Huanggang Park in Futian while a kite culture exhibition will be featured in Lianhuashan Park. Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park will feature daily cultural performances.
This series of cultural activities is to attract residents and tourists and turn Shenzhen into a city of parks. Last year the city created a park management center that placed all 29 city parks under one management.
