Li Na to Play in London Olympics
China’s Li Na is setting her sights on another grand slam title, this time however, it will be in the London Olympic Games next year. Li said that to qualify for the Olympic games requires a ranking in the top 50, the tennis star currently ranks No. 5 in the world and is the French Open Champion.
Li said she will be training hard to give a good show and to be in top form when she competes in the London Olympics. She also said that this might be her last time to participate in the Olympics and that she wants to give her best. The matches during the Olympic games will be held on the Wimbledon grass courts, and after the Wimbledon games next year Li plans to stay and train on the grass courts until she can get accustomed to the plapying conditions.
Li Na was born in 1982 in Wuhan, she joined China’s National Tennis Team in 1997 and later turned professional in 1999. She also became the first Asian to win A Grand Slam title and also the first Asian to appear in a Grand Slam singles Final.
Li is currently in Beijing preparing for the China Open, which begins tomorrow.
