Nation to Boost Efforts in Conserving Energy and Reducing Emissions

Nation to boost efforts in conserving energy and reducing emissionsThe local government was called upon by Premier Wen Jiabao to step up their efforts in conserving energy and reducing emissions. According to Mr. Wen, the situation is very severe and local authorities must fully implement policies in their five year plan.

The nation should begin curbing the growth of energy intensive and polluting industries, start increasing the usage of cleaner power sources, and at the same time, improve natural resource pricing. China is fast becoming the world’s biggest consumer of energy, and is now starting to close down industrial plants that are outdated. They are now concentrating on finding ways to boost investment in renewable energy as their campaign to create sustainable economic growth and reduce pollution.

They country must fully understand the importance and urgency of energy conservation. China should start planning promotions on the use of cleaner utilization of coals, using renewable energy such as wind, solar and hydro power. The city should also develop an efficient nuclear power source while ensuring public safety.

China aims to reduce the country’s energy consumption by 16 percent in the next five years. Carbon dioxide emissions will be brought down by 17 percent, also in 2015.
