Li Na Drops Out On First Round of China Open

Li Na drops out on the first round of the China OpenChina’s Li Na suffered a first round defeat in the China Open to Romanian Monica Niculescu. Li was defeated in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 making this her second straight first round exit. Li’s defeat came in under ninety minutes and suffered dropped serves six times in front of shocked home fans.

Li was then subject to criticism from fans and media stating that Li was more focused on getting endorsement deals than improving her game. But even with this criticisms on her back Li still got support from Caroline Wozniacki. She said that Li had a great season and it was wise for her to grab the opportunity for sponsorship.

Wozniacki also said that when Li looks back on her career she will be proud and happy about her achievements. Since her win in Paris, Li admitted she is still struggling to gain the confidence to play with such an expectation placed on her by fans and the media.
