China Southern Airline’s First A380 Takes Flight
The first of five A380 jumbo jets ordered by China Southern Airlines will make its maiden flight form Beijing to Guangzhou today. The A380 will fly the commercial domestic route from Beijing to Guangzhou until October 26. Then it will fly from Beijing to Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 27 to 29.
The A380 features a 506 seat cabin that has eight first class suites, 70 flat bed business class seats and 428 economy class seats. Tickets for the maiden flight in the first class and business class seats are already sold out and all fares are similar with other commercial flights plying the route.
China Southern Airlines is the first operator of the A380 jet in China and the seventh globally. The European aircraft manufacturer will be delivering around 110 passenger planes to China. China plans to develop their global aviation industry by adding more planes and expects an annual rate increase of 5 percent over the next 20 years or possibly even faster.
