Pingshan New Zone to be Transformed into Smart District
In two plans approved by the city, the Pingshan New Zone in the eastern part of the city will be transformed into a smart district using advanced technology. The technology will be used to transform the life, economics and work in the region in just a few years time.
The new zone was established in June 2009 and will ultimately implement administrative reform that will reduce levels of government while developing a low carbon green zone, a living space and an economic engine. Analysts are saying that by 2015, GDP for the new zone will increase to 85 billion yuan with the output of strategic industries accounting for 20 percent of the new zone’s total GDP. By 2020, the GDP for the new zone will increase 100 percent from 2015 with tertiary industries contributing 40 percent to growth.
Pingshan will then become the main center and an industrial base for emerging industries and innovation in Shenzhen. Residents living in the new zone will benefit from the urban planning, green transportation, uses of new energy, low carbon economy and resource recycling contributing to healthier lifestyles.
