College to Train Leaders in the field of Bioscience
Bejing Genomics Institute is planning to become a cradle for interested biological scientists and upcoming entrepreneurs in China. The institute unveiled their college last week in Shenzhen with the goal of training future leaders in the field of bioscience in China.
The BGI College is part of ten specialized schools that the government is setting up by 2015. The college is different with the other nine specialized schools, which recruit high school graduates, where BGI offers courses in graduate level and training. BGI has long been training students in their masters and doctorate degrees in the field of genomics and bioinformatics.
Students studying at BGI are fully supported by the institute and are taught by BGI staff and their partners. Introductory courses are taught by professionals from outside, hired by BGI. The students can enjoy the world class facilities that BGI offers including their laboratories that are used for training.
BGI has already trained hundreds of professionals and their graduates are most sought after by companies. Graduates of BGI are masters of both information technology and biological technology.
