BYD’s Pure Electric Vehicle Now Available in Shenzhen
BYD’s first pure electric vehicle, the e6 finally went on sale in Shenzhen this week. BYD’s latest product integrates state of the art technology that was developed in a joint venture with BYD and U.S. based Daimler.
The e6 electric vehicle carries the hefty price tag of 369,800 yuan and the company expects to sell about 300 of these vehicles in Shenzhen each month. Buyers will be given a 60,000 yuan subsidy since the government released a ruling last year that gives a subsidy to buyers of electric cars, this will bring the price of the e6 down to 249,800 yuan. The e6 will feature new technology such as keyless starting, digital TV and voice navigation.
Motorists can also use their iPhones and other mobile phones running on Android system by using the iCloud technology. They can start and lock their vehicles remotely and monitor the vehicle’s location as well.
The vehicle will be powered by a recyclable and environmentally friendly battery manufactured by BYD that uses 19.5 kWh of electricity/100 km without emissions. The e6 vehicle is capable of running at a maximum speed of 140 km/hour and can run up to 300 km on a charge. The e6 batteries will be at their full capacity when charged at a charging station for an hour, but it takes 5 to 6 hours if they are charged at charging stands found in parking lots.
BYD and Daimler are collaborating to release more electric vehicles in the future.
