Dongmen Sichuan Restaurant – Just Off Sea Food Street
For my third restaurant review of the month I decided to go really local and head to Dong men near Lohou. Dong men is famous for its cheap bargains down the many shopping streets but perhaps not so famous for its amazing cuisine. Well head over to Dong men sea Food Street and prepare to be amazed by the selection of restaurants and street food on show. I tried Tian Fu Old restaurant, a Sichuan hot pot restaurant which also has a huge separate menu of Sichuan dishes.
This menu has everything, we tried the cold beef with cucumber, beef in bread crumbs with dip, sweet and sour fish, fish hot pot, eggplant, spicy pork and for dessert we had bread with sweet egg dip. The food was delicious and we ate in a private room with TV and watched a thrilling premier league football match involving Arsenal and Chelsea. What better way to spend a night with friends away from the hustle and crowds of Coco Park than great food and live football and 8rmb bottles of beer.
Food dishes start from 15rmb and average around 25-30rmb. Hot pot fillings average around 25rmb.
To find the restaurant get off at the Hubei Road MTR and call manager Cora who speaks great English on 82293658.
