Boxing Legend Joe Frazier Dies of Cancer
Boxing legend Joe Frazier passed away Monday night after a short battle with liver cancer, he was 67. Frazier was known for beating Muhammad Ali in the Thrilla in Manila which was said to be the fight of the century during their time and ever since Frazier was trying to step his way out of Ali’s Shadow.
Fraizer bore the burden of being labeled as Ali’s nemesis and paid the price by being bitter for years. Frazier and Ali just recently came to terms and the boxer had come to forgive Ali for everything he said to him. Muhammad Ali said in a statement that his sympathy goes out to Frazier’s family and loved ones and he will always remember Frazier with respect and admiration.
Their last fight was in Manila, where Ali and Frazier traded punches with fervor, which was unimaginable amongst heavyweights. Frazier gave it his all for 14 rounds and was held back by his trainer in the final round because he was unable to see. His last night at Madison Square Garden was fresh in Frazier’s mind, he talked about his life, his career and his relationship with Ali, which he said was the best thing that ever happened in his life.
